When studying a portion of scripture (Or a book of the bible) what better way to ponder the words than reading and writing. Keep an "It is written" journal. Write it out word for word. AND, if you write it in cursive, it may be 'code' for future days. 
The kings of Israel were commissioned to "write for himself on a scroll a copy of the law." (Deut 17:18). Write it out.
